The 2010 TNAAP Annual Awards Event was held on Saturday October 16th at the W.O. Smith School of Music in Nashville, TN. Eleven individuals were honored for their work and impact in the pediatric community. The Fall Board Meeting was held prior to the awards event and the evening began with a Young Physicians reception sponsored by Monroe Carell Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. This reception allowed the opportunity for YP's to network with each other as well as seasoned pediatricians from across the state.
Following a cocktail reception, the Awards Presentation was held in the Recital Hall. President Eddie Hamilton, MD, welcomed the crowd of over 100 attendees and Vice President Allen Coffman, MD of Chattanooga and Fellow at Large Shelly Fiscus, MD of Nashville served as the emcees for the evening. As an organization who works everyday to be a leading voice and advocate for the welfare of infants, children and adolescents, and the pediatricians who care for them...we value the contributions, compassion and commitment of these individuals to fulfill the mission of The Tennessee American Academy of Pediatrics

Each year, we honor remarkable pediatricians who serve children, families and communities all across Tennessee. Pediatricians and others from across the State are honored for the contributions they made to the children they treat, the families they serve, and the communities in which they live.
The Pediatrician of the Year Award goes to a member of the Chapter who in the past year has made extraordinary and unique contributions on behalf of Tennessee's children, to his or her community, or to the Chapter.
The Senior Pediatrician of the Year Awards are given to those who have practiced pediatrics for at least 35 years, whether retired or still practicing, and have made a significant impact over time to the welfare of children in his or her community.
Distinguished Service Awards and Friend of Children Awards are typically given to non-pediatricians from the field of government, public health, media, advocacy, etc, who have made outstanding contributions to the health and safety of children over the past year.
